What is VFX ?, The Google definition of VFX is Visual effects is the process by which imagery is created or manipulated outside the context of a live-action shot in filmmaking and video production, so, in a brief VFX is nothing but the effect which is visually created with the help of using chroma screens (Green And Blue Screen) to present and something unimaginable. Earlier use of VFX and the technique was used very frequently, but now due to cinema and the evolution of cinema globally, every one another, movie or TV show for that matter in the OTT space VFX is used more. We all are aware of the western projects, their imagination, and the kind of technology they are investigating in their movies and visuals at storytelling. But, for quite a few years the use of VFX has boomed in the Indian entertainment space. Right from movies to television to the digital every year, millions of contents are produced and the majority of the films and series use special effects according to their story/ plot and requirement of the scene.
- VFX in Cinemas: The reach and awareness about CGI, VFX, and other visual technological aspects came into consideration after a magnum opus was produced in the Indian cinema known as Baahubali, a film that changed the cinema/content viewing experience of any audience, nobody had ever imagined seeing such a grand scale movie which was a visually jaw-dropping treat for the eyes of the viewers, but before that films, Jajantaram Mamantaram Krrish, Enthiran (Robot) Ra One Krrish 3, and many more these films are invented the new age cinema in the Indian entertainment industry. But, it's not necessary that films or projects which consist a mammoth amount of budget and funds and need to be huge in terms of storytelling but, films which have a good plot and at a very minimum budget film still can have good VFX or can invest hiring an agency which does good VFX and can deliver the desired visual art and scene according to the director. Recent examples like Bhavesh Joshi, Trapped, Andhadhun, Fan, and many more . . The addition of VFX into cinemas has not only created a huge impact on storytelling and plot but also, has made wonders which were impossible or had gimmicks due to lack of advanced technology. Films like Fan, Zero, Krrish 3 have raised the bar of how Indian VFX, the artist has mastered this creative thought. The above-mentioned movies VFX are done by Red Chillies Entertainment and VFX which is owned by Shahrukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan in the year 2003. The 2018 released film Zero still makes the VFX experts question and amazed seeing how brilliantly the company and the whole team has taken off the job and made SRK look dwarf with perfection.
- VFX in Television: The history of VFX in Indian television with having grand visual effects (VFX) for TV serials was kicked off way back with Vikram Betaal, Ramayan, and Mahabharat, Ever since then, most mythological and fantasy-based shows and serials like Mahadev, Parvati Putra Ganesh, Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev, Jai Bajrangabali, Sitcom like Sharaarat, Shakala Boom Boom, Son Pari, Hatim and historicals like Prithviraj Chauhan, Jhansi ki Raani Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, Jodha Akbar, Suryaputra Karn, and others like Maharakshak Devi, Maharakshak Aryan, and Siya Ke Ram have expanded their special effects budgets to good results. Since then the use of visual effects in the TV space boomed.
Now Ekta Kapoor’s latest weekend show has gone all out to stun the viewers with no less than a helicalm team the one which worked on the blockbuster film Bahubali. Ekta Kapoor the name needs no introduction, especially in the TV industry. Many shows right from Daily soaps, family drama, to fantasy stories she has made a huge name in the Indian television world, Yes, the overdramatic transitions and sound effects might look humorous today, but then people used to love it and editing and use of VFX were new to the majority. Shows like Naagin, Kaavch which aired on Colors TV, the supernatural show was produced by Balaji Telefilms owned by Ekta Kapoor, not just the fantasy shows which had a serious plot but the show’s with a slice of life comedy stories do use to enhance the story and give a visual treat to their viewers. The Shows like Badi Door Se Aaye Hai, Neeli Chatri Waale Yam hai Hum, and many. Today, TV channels like Zee TV, Sony SAB, Sony, and Colors TV these are ruling the television in terms of storytelling, TRP and also, innovating and using maxim creative special effects and VFX which really redefines the viewing experiences and there are yet more projects lined up to tell more visually entertaining impressive stories with the help of technology and VFX.
