Harihar Muni:
Are! Mohabbat Hai Isliye Jaane Diya, Zidd Hotti Toh Baahon Mein Hoti.
These lines by Irrfan Khan sir perfectly fit in this film. To let go of someone especially someone very close to your heart requires a lot of courage, It makes it difficult for both to leave each other and erase all those sweet moments spend together. It’s a cruse to meet someone who you know one day would leave you, but it's also your beautiful fortune that the meeting was not simply a part of your journey but one of the best things that happened in your life/journey. This won’t be a review nor any letter to any character or actor, but a small resemblance which I felt after watching both the movies, and TBH, both the film left me with the same unanswered questions and how I discussed with many of my friends and how there had too many explanations served on a plate in front of me. Also, both the films are from the male or single person point of view, so there won’t be any accurate claim for the same.
It all began when an unexpected smile showed on my face when George fell in love with Mary, singing songs at the church, waiting outside her home and then with Malar, her teacher No not the teacher but his crush, I was happy and started to hoot when he thrashed the pervert peon. I had a drop of a tear in my eyes when Celine opened up and said Do you remember that girl with Mary who would always roam with her, That's me, Celine, that scene that part still brings a smile to my face and George smile was absolutely priceless. I felt the same sweet connection in Tom’s life how he was committed to the fact that he is in love with a girl called Summer and starts dancing in the streets it's a special feeling when someone is in love, everything around you looks so beautiful and happy. But, I felt bad when George finds that Mary isn’t interested in him, I felt like crying when Malar was unable to recall George’s name. I felt bad for Tom when he finds that Summer got engaged with another guy. These reactions/emotions which I felt or you all were experiencing while watching their stories prove how to love is so important part of this Human life. . .
There is this beautiful symbolism in both the film that years passed to figure out for whom you are or with whom you will spend your life. It's simple to say that we choose to love, but in reality, love chooses you. Breakups or Heartbreak are simply a small part of that journey on which you were moving but respecting the heartbreak to not fortunate to be loved needs courage to accept it. When Tom ad Summer sits beside each other on the bench and Tom finds the engagement ring, its Summer who choose to see George happy, and sam also the story of Premam resembles when George meets Malar after many years, he had any questions in his mind seeing her after many years. But Malar wished to stay silent at the moment and wish to see him happy. As earlier I had mentioned that though the film is majority written and presented from the male's point of view, the dialogue of Irfan Khan is what real love or respect for love looks like. If you truly love someone then let him/her go, let them not suffer.
